This is data from an fMRI experiment which tests a number of basic sensory and cognitive functions.

Full details of the task and methods can be found in our pre-print on BiorXiv.org; https://www.biorxiv.org/content/early/2017/12/14/233783

There are two variants of the experiment. Both contain visual, auditory, and motor trials but one version also includes eye-movement trials, and another includes working-memory trials. They are labelled 'eye-movement' and 'working_memory' accordingly.

Two identical scanning sessions were conducted on each of 15 subjects. This enabled calculation of reliability statistics (ICC) as well as standard activation analyses.

Unthresholded activation maps and ICC maps are available here: https://neurovault.org/collections/3264/

Stimulus code for the tasks was written in PsychoPy and is also available here: https://figshare.com/articles/fMRI_control_task_zip/5162065 (DOI: 384 10.6084/m9.figshare.5162065).

Hi Matt,

I'm am researching item level effects in fMRI analyses and I'd like to use this data set. The events.tsv files do identify if each trial is visual, motor, or auditory, but don’t identify which stimuli was presented in each trial. If they are available, could you add identifiers for which item was presented on each trial to the subjects' events.tsv files? The image_num column in this dataset is an example of the type of item level identifier I’m hoping to find: https://openneuro.org/datasets/ds000009/versions/00002/file-display/sub-01%2Ffunc%2Fsub-01_task-emotionalregulation_run-01_events.tsv

Hi Dylan,

I'm afraid I can't really provide that information, as all the trials are the same. That is, all the visual trials were presentations of the same drifting visual grating, all the auditory trials were presentations of the same six tones, etc. As such, I'm not sure if this is really the best data set for you to use, if you're interested in item-level effects. Sorry!
